Heels can take a beating from a range of activities, including heavy impact exercise or wearing poorly fitted shoes.
What I like for heel pain:
- Take a topical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication (It is a gel or a strip that can be applied to the heel.) to help manage pain. Avoid, if possible, antiinflammatories that are taken by mouth and absorbed systemically.
- Try Lidoderm patches filled with pain killer and apllied topically.
- Ice the heel or freeze any bottle and then roll your heel over the area for 10- 15 minutes. Avoid frost bite of course.
- Wear custom orthotic insoles, or similar over-the-counter products.
- Use gel supports designed to cup the heel. They can be purchased i any supermarket or pharmacy.
- If pain persists see your doctor for possible X-Rays and and an exam, acupuncture and/or cold laser therapy (very effective).
