Aspirin: To Take Or Not To Take
The American Heart Association recommends:
People at high risk of heart attack should take a daily low-dose of aspirin (if told to by their healthcare provider) and that heart attack survivors regularly take low-dose aspirin.

Aspirin can cause significant gastrointestinal bleeding and could contribute to a hemorrhagic stroke. Aspirin may contribute to heart failure or kidney disease. Yet, if you have heart failure, aspirin could be beneficial because it “thins” out the blood. You would not consider aspirin if you were to have dental work or surgery because it could inhibit clotting. You should stop aspirin two weeks before any invasive procedure.
